GENERAL INFORMATIONS

The main goal of the Department of Philosophy, which was established within the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences of Samsun University and located in the Canik Campus, is for the student to acquire the history of philosophy, to recognize the main problem areas of philosophy in the historical process and to reach problem awareness. In this way, it is aimed to raise individuals who have the ability to see and interpret current issues from a philosophical perspective, with the ability to reason consistently and correctly, based on this knowledge and consciousness, as well as to raise individuals who are far from preconceptions, respectful of cultural diversity and different lifestyles.

Our department includes the following divisions;

• Division of History of Philosophy,
• Division of Systematic Philosophy and Logic,
• Division of Turkish-Islamic Philosophy.

Philosophy graduates have various business fields, especially in public institutions (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Family and Social Services, etc.), private education institutions, psychotechnical evaluation centers and industrial establishments. While the graduates of the philosophy department who have a formation certificate have the opportunity to teach in public and private schools, there is also the choice of graduate education (MBA & PhD) for students who want to pursue an academic career.
